We know our 21st century students to be voracious consumers of information. Their unlimited and unfiltered virtual lives allow them access to information and opinions with the tap of a screen. Their digital expertise and devotion to social media allow them to produce, publish and evaluate in less time than it takes them to find paper and and a pencil for class.
Why then, do they even need teachers?
My sister Nicole and I developed Shared Space Teaching as an answer to this very question. As parents and educators with over 35 years of teaching experience between us, we observed that the most effective teachers create a learning space where roles and responsibilities are shared between teachers and students - Shared Space Teaching. Technology and social media actually create a new demand for equipped and prepared teachers to meet the unique needs of this generation.
Shared Space Teaching inspires teachers and students to build fully engaged learning communities where both teacher and student learning can flourish. Additionally, Shared Space Teaching provides concrete and accessible methods of planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation allowing teachers the space to fully participate in shared learning.
Our website gives you detailed descriptions of our Summer Institute offerings as well as workshops and coaching we provide throughout the year. We invite you to join us as we build Shared Space communities.
